Crunch Time + Background Stamping

Hi and welcome back! It's me again. Lisa, from The Relativity of Paper, and I'm taking over the blog and sharing four fun cards with punny sentiments and stamped backgrounds.

Pull up a chair and grab some coffee, let's chat about creating backgrounds. I absolutely love creating backgrounds for my cards because it lets me coordinate my way. Don't get me wrong, I am all about patterned paper, love the stuff. It's so fun and relaxing to grab the stamps and inks and just have at it sometimes.

For the cards above I used Victorine Originals Popcorn stamp and Memento Ink Dandelion. I start with a 5.5" x 8.5" piece of #110 Neenah cardstock this gives me two backgrounds. A stamp positioning tool makes fast work of this process plus allows repeat stamping. Randomly stamp your image filling the piece of paper.

To create the background below I used Victorine Originals Double Take Ice Cream and Distress Oxide Inks in Candied Apple, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, and Peacock Feathers to stamp the scoop of ice cream. I also went back in with a small heart stamp, Raisin Boat Love Letters stamp set, and Distress Oxide Ink in Iced Spruce because I'm using this particular card for Valentine's Day. CA-ute! I should probably tell you that I adhered the backgrounds using fun foam onto a 4.25" x 5.5" top-fold card base and that you can cut your backgrounds using a paper trimmer or die-cuts. I used Hero Arts Rectangle Dies, no stitching, no piercing, just nice, clean, crisp edges. Ah, LOVE!

Once I finished the backgrounds I moved onto the Popcorn and Float image from the Raisin Boat Crunch Time stamp set, stamping them with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and coloring with COPICS. No fussy coloring with the images this go-round, these are meant to be fun and whimsical. Now you can fussy cut the images but I'm not about NO fussy cutting. So, I used my new Brother Scan N Cut. (This is where I tell you to join in the current challenge using Something New. A new technique, new product, new style.)

Finish off by stamping the sentiments with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, my favorite ink, add 3D mounting foam to the back of the cut images to adhere to the front of the card, add a few enamel dots, and you are done. Ready to make more backgrounds? I know I am.
