Tractor Birthday Card

Welcome to another Wednesday project from Beth's Beauties!  This time I have a masculine card to share that uses the Raisin Boat Homegrown and Flourishing Thoughts stamp sets.
First of all, I stamped the awesome tractor stamp from the Raisin Boat Homegrown set with VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Once that was dry, I used watercolor pencils and a water brush to add the color.  The panel was die cut with a GMD stitched rectangle die, then matted with a black rectangle die cut with a GMD wonky stitched rectangle die.  The panel was popped up with foam tape onto the card base.
The patterned papers in TPS Yee-Haw! paper pad were perfect for this card.  The sentiment was from the Raisin Boat Flourishing Thoughts stamp set and was stamped with SB.com Succulent ink.  To embellish, I added burlap ribbon and dots of silver Pearl Pen (which were not centered like I had originally intended...oops!).  I guess imperfection is part of life, right?
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Farmers Make Such a Difference

Hello - Jeanette here from the design team (and from Cre8tive Play). I'm so glad you've stopped by the blog today.

I live in the middle of farm country which has given me a first-hand view of the difficulties farmers have experienced this year, at least in our area. The weather has not been kind to them - flooding out crops or flooding even before the crops were planted.

Since they've been on my mind, I decided to use two Raisin Boat stamp sets (Homegrown and Flourishing Thoughts) to make a card to send to a good friend who is a farmer.

And here's a tip - when you go to the Victorine Originals (SumMore Fun) online store, be sure to check out the pricing options before you place the set in the shopping cart. Many of the stamp sets have a temporary liquidation price and/or a used price, either of which will save you some money.

But I digress. Here is my card...

I normally color with Copic markers, but for this card I chose to use my Prisma Watercolor Pencils instead.

The sentiments (the front and the inside) are both from the Flourishing Thoughts stamp set.

Speaking of the inside of my card, here it is...

Just a barn and a wedding...

Hi all! Jamie here, and at my scrapbooking retreat two weekends ago, I was able to make some more progress in my sister's wedding album. I'm so close to being done!!!

When my little sister told us she wanted to get married in our barn, we all kind of thought she was nuts - mostly because it was a BARN that was in use on the farm, so it was a little dirty! But, she had a vision, and what a beautiful vision it was! The day was perfect, the wedding was perfect and the bride was happy!

When I saw the Raisin Boat stamp set Homegrown, I just knew I need to make a layout with it for her wedding album. And then I saw the awesome card made by fellow design team member Heather and knew that's what I needed to do. Heather created a work of art, and thankfully, she helped me adapt it for a scrapbook page.

I started with distress oxide inks and sponge tools. I've never inked a whole page like this before, and it was definitely a learning experience. I tossed my first attempt... but with a bit of water and a bit of careful picture placement, I was able to make the scene of the barn on the left page. Lots of layers of ink was Heather's advice!

Once my background was done, I stamped on some grass from the Raisin Boat Homegrown set. I was trying to replicate the amount of grass versus dirt in the pictures we had of the wedding. Then, I needed a barn. I stamped and embossed the Homegrown barn on a separate piece of paper, and then I watercolored it using a brush and the distress oxide inks.

I matted the top picture to set it apart a little bit.

The first page was hard enough, so no way was I repeating that for the second page. Did you remember the wedding was in a barn on a farm? So, what goes better with that than cowboy boots? We all had our boots on, so I dug around and found a couple boot stamps from Victorine Originals and Raisin Boat and got to work.

I embossed the boots from the Raisin Boat set Goes with Mountain Country Gal and the Victorine Originals Cowboy Boots boots with the distress oxides and clear embossing powder; and then I watercolored them to match the colors of the boots we actually wore.

And, apparently because I like fussy cutting so much, I stamped and embossed a lasso from the Raisin Boat stamp set Urban Cowgirl and put it on one of the pictures.

I'm pretty happy with how this layout turned it! It captures the scene of the pictures perfectly!
